IPA Programme: in Petnjica sanitary yard with waste pressure and removal of illegal landfields

In Pristina, on 16 November, the Gant award ceremony related to the projects selected under the First Call for IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Montenegro-Kosovo 2014-2020 was held. On behalf of the Municipality of Petnjica, the ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Petnjica, Samir Agović, and his adviser, Ismet Latić. Within the frame of this call for proposals, the municipality of Petnjica received funds for the implementation of the project “United Against Pollution-UAP”. Agovic pointed out that this is a project in the field of environmental protection and through the implementation of project activities, environmental protection will be improved in the implementation area.

 

Samir Agovic, speaking specifically on the benefits of the citizens of Petnjica municipality after the project is being implemented, pointed out that Municipality of Petnjica will build a sanitary yard with waste press, wild dumps will be mapped within its the territory and remediation of a part of wild dumps will be carried out. Moreover, he emphasized that Utility Company of Petnjica will receive equipment for employees, ten new collection points will be established in the rural area of the municipality and a campaign on adequate disposal of waste will also be carried out.

 

The project is implemented in cooperation with the municipality of Gjakova and NGO “Let’s Do It Peja” – from the Kosovo side and the Center for Regional Development from Rožaje – from the Montenegrin side.
