Project “Cross border joint initiatives for better waste management” presented

The project “Cross border joint initiatives for better waste management” financed by the European Union within the IPA CBC Programme Montenegro – Kosovo 2014 – 2020 was officially presented in Plav. The value of the project is 315,724.71 euros, of which the European Union will participate with 84.25%, while the project partners will co-finance 15.75%.

 

The project was officially opened by Director of Utility Company Plav Alen Pejčinović, who pointed out that the significance of the environmental protection sector is becoming more and more visible, especially taking into account the strategic commitment of the Government of Montenegro and Kosovo to join the European Economic Area (EEA) and become the Member States of the European Union (EU). He stated that inadequate environmental solutions and inadequate management of natural resources, as well as anthropogenic factor, have fostered our project team to recognize this problem in both communities.

 

Director of Regional Waste Management Company “Čabrati” from Gjakova, Berat Hadri, expressed satisfaction that he can cooperate with partners from Plav on this important project for both regions.

Project Manager Predrag Scekic presented the activities of the project underlying the procurement of two systems for dry waste processing, education of citizens, education of workers for both municipal utility companies. He especially pointed out the importance of education the youngest inhabitants of Plav and Djakovica on the area of environment protection, as well as on waste management.
