C.L.O.S.E.R. – Culture-Led Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Revitalisation

Expected results of the project:

  • The adaptive reuse of one cultural heritage site in Kosovo to be used by the creative fields driven by culture heritage community practices;
  • Revitalisation of the old roads of Old Town Bar through cleaning and minor conservation works;
  • The cultural routes signage and interpretation in the Old Town of Bar is in place and improved, with special focus for the interpretation for the marginalised groups;
  • The Creative Hub of the economic region West in Kosovo is established with the guidance of the newly formed Creative Hub in Bar;
  • Relevant stakeholders from the cross border affected municipalities, including youth, are trained in the field of adaptive reuse of cultural heritage buildings, interpretation of heritage sites and tourism management.

Target groups: CSOs working in the field of culture, culture and natural heritage and others; Local and national authorities; Local community; Young professionals; Tourism and tourism related industry practitioners; National and international tourists/visitors.

Project area:
West Economic Region in Kosovo: Pejë/Peć, Istog/Istok, Klinë/Klina, Junik, Deçan/Dečani, Gjakovë/Đakovica; Municipality of Bar in Montenegro.

Impact of the project:

The project aims to have a measurable effect on sustainable economic growth through the valorisation of cultural heritage. The project sees cultural environments as important resources not only for boosting tourism but also for developing cross border cooperation with creative and innovative industries.
